THE ENGINEERING DNA BEHIND PHENIX
Phenix didn’t begin with a tablet. It began with more than four decades of asking how industrial machines could be controlled better.
CRAIG WEBSTER — TECHNICAL ARCHITECT
1981 — ADDISON TUBE FORMING
Craig’s specialist career in tube bending and machine control began at Addison Tube Forming Ltd.
1987 — DIGITAL CNC/NC CONTROL
Craig developed pioneering all-digital motion CNC/NC control technology for tube bending, including early touchscreen operator-interface thinking.
1988 — INTERNATIONAL APPLICATION
The technology progressed into high-volume integration with a leading Italian producer.
1993 — PINES
Further adoption extended the engineering experience across additional machine platforms.
ADAPTIVE MOTION → PHENIX
Decades of machine-control development, field experience and changing technology ultimately shaped the thinking behind Phenix.
2012 — ANDROID HMI
Craig began using Android-based devices as the HMI — separating the replaceable operator interface from the machine controller itself.
OBSOLETING OBSOLESCENCE.
A mechanically valuable machine can outlive the technology controlling it. Phenix is designed around that reality.
TWO PEOPLE. TWO QUESTIONS. ONE DECISION.
Craig Webster — CAN WE TRANSFORM IT?
Technical suitability, engineering and machine control.
John Owen — SHOULD WE TRANSFORM IT?
Commercial sense, capital decisions and customer outcomes.
A Phenix Transformation needs both answers to make sense.
